Gert Auväärt explains how Estonia’s threat environment has evolved, from a growing number of impactful cyber incidents to a sharp rise in scams and phishing attacks targeting both individuals and organisations. He highlights how advances in AI have made phishing messages far more convincing, even in smaller languages such as Estonian. As a result, cyber security must increasingly be treated as an everyday service—similar to internet connectivity or physical security.
Urmo Keskel adds the private-sector perspective, describing how companies can address human-driven risks through phishing simulations and short cyber hygiene trainings. By exposing employees to realistic phishing scenarios in a safe environment, organisations can help teams recognise suspicious messages, change behaviour, and build stronger resilience against real attacks.
