sTARTUp Day 2025 Recap: Numbers, Stories, and few Observations
It was lively and busy. How busy? Let’s get the numbers part done, then.
The event gathered over 3,000 business enthusiasts from more than 50 countries, including 150 speakers, 200 investors, 300 executives, and 350 startups. Additionally, 70 companies showcased their solutions in the demo area. The event featured 51 seminars, 27 side events, and 37 hours of content across four stages.
Curious about the YoY change? The number of startups and represented countries increased compared to previous year, total number of attendants slightly decreased.
The Estonian Business and Innovation Agency (EIS) plays a key role in promoting science empowered entrepreneurship, and sTARTUp Day provided an excellent platform for collaboration between researchers, students, startups, and investors.EIS crew were actively involved in multiple events, to be fair, in too many to count here. But we’ll include one: HealthTech Cooperation Day, attended by Kristiina Sepp, HealthTech Focus Area Lead at EIS, and Vaido Mikheim from Startup Estonia. The event brought together 70–80 researchers and entrepreneurs to foster collaboration in the increasingly promising and relevant sector.
Beyond HealthTech, the Applied Research Program (RUP) also attracted significant attention, along with Work in Estonia and e-Residency programs—further reinforcing Estonia’s appeal as a destination for foreign investors and top specialists.
The DeepTech Lounge returned for its third year at sTARTUp Day 2025 and focused on technology trends, intellectual property (IP), and export markets.The Silent Stage at the Deep Tech Lounge (both powered by EIS, yes, we’re bit proud about ourselves here) featured industry leaders and up and coming hopefuls. Just to name few: AstraZeneca Bioventures, Lightbringer, Nordic Science Investments, IQM, Better Medicine.

DefenceTech is in town! And judging by sTARTUp Day, it’s only going to propel forward. Fast. Backed by Estonia’s strong technical and engineering expertise. And values.
Startup Ecosystem Mingle’s still work! Startup Estonia’s traditional community meetup didn’t fail to deliver this time around either. 200+ loud, proud, and energetic community actors giving us overdose of ideas and mild headache are a testament to that.
Go to market and revenue growth takeover! While attracting investments is still a priority to many, achieving market entry and revenue is today’s founders primary goal.
“Be delusional” – If people think your idea is crazy, you might just have a billion-dollar startup in the making.
“Don’t reinvent the wheel” – The most successful startups don’t necessarily create something entirely new but instead enhance existing solutions.
“Tell your story” – A startup’s success depends on how well it communicates its vision and engages its audience.
Next year, sTARTUp Day will celebrate its 10th anniversary from January 28–30, 2026, in Tartu.
